MetAI and Kenmec Bring AI-Native Digital Twin Infrastructure to International Airport

Physically accurate simulation integrated with Siemens PLC Control Logic on NVIDIA Omniverse establishes a Real-to-Sim-to-Real validation loop for mission-critical airport operations
Taipei, Taiwan — June 1, 2026 — MetAI, an AI-native industrial simulation company, and Kenmec Mechanical Engineering Co., Ltd., a leading system integrator in automation industrial solutions and material handling systems, today announced the development of a physics-based digital twin simulation environment for validation of the departure luggage handling system for International Airport’s new Terminal.
Built with NVIDIA Omniverse libraries and integrated with Siemens TIA PLC control logic, the project establishes one of Taiwan’s most mission-critical infrastructure systems into a digital twin simulation environment for system and technical validation — enabling real-time validation, scenario simulation, control logic testing, and future physical AI training within a virtual environment prior to physical implementation.
“The International Airport represents a major milestone in national infrastructure,” said Jonas Ko and Ming-Kai Hsieh. “Through our collaboration with MetAI, we are able to conduct system-level validation and testing within a simulation environment during the design and planning phase. This digital-first approach strengthens reliability and creates future opportunities for real-world airport operations while enhancing long-term operational efficiency. More importantly, it establishes a foundation for Physical AI, transforming infrastructure into a training ground for next-generation robotics and intelligent automation powered by MetGen’s digital twin data.”

Digital Twin of the International Airport Luggage Handling System, generated by MetGen
Leveraging its proprietary MetGen platform, MetAI converted Kenmec’s engineering blueprints directly into structured SimReady assets using the OpenUSD framework in NVIDIA Omniverse™ libraries, generating a digital twin simulation environment of the entire departure conveyor and sortation network luggage systems. Compared to conventional modeling workflows, the AI & 3D integrated generative pipeline reduced digital environment build time by over 95%, compressing tens of thousands of manual reconstruction into minutes, generating precise and realistic environments to support simulation and validation workflows.
Rather than static 3D visualization, the system was translated into modular, physics-enabled SimReady assets that preserve operational topology and real mechanical behavior at infrastructure scale.
At the core of the deployment is the alignment with Siemens PLC systems. Through MetAI’s MetGen PLC Bridge, control logic behavior is integrated within the simulation environment, mirroring live signals such as routing logic, weight detection, and zone occupancy tracking.
This establishes a Real-to-Sim-to-Real validation loop, where automation logic can be tested and refined virtually before implementation in real-world systems. By reducing reliance on high-risk live debugging, the system supports an estimated 10–20% reduction in on-site control system troubleshooting cycles during deployment.
“Industrial infrastructure is entering the age of AI. Digital twins should not be visualization tools — they are operational simulation and validation platforms, serving as data engines that accelerate Industrial AI and Physical AI training.” said Daniel Yu, Co-founder & CEO of MetAI. “We are very proud to reach the milestone with Kenmec where we have the opportunity to deploy a large-scale use-case in International Airport to transform real-world knowledge into industrial training grounds where we envision robotics to survive in.
The international airport luggage handling system digital twin project demonstrates how digital twins are highly suited for transforming large-scale infrastructure from static engineering designs into simulation-first digital environments for validation and continuous improvement — providing a scalable blueprint for warehousing and logistics hubs, semiconductor systems, advanced manufacturing, and other critical industrial environments.
